BBB Names Cordia Harrington, 2008 Better Business Ambassador of the Year

Cordia Harrington, Tennessee Bun Company, was named 2008 Better Business Ambassador of the Year at the BBB's 10th annual dinner event held at the Marriott Nashville Airport October 30.  Allison Paige Knight, Culleoka High School, Culleoka, TN was named BBB's 2008 Student of Integrity.

Attendees from throughout Middle Tennessee gathered at the Marriott Hotel to celebrate honorees and their commitment to ethics and integrity.  Stephen M.R. Covey,  co-founder and CEO of CoveyLink Worldwide and author of The Speed of Trust..The One Thing That Changes Everything was the keynote speaker.  Mr. Covey passionately delivered a compelling message that challenges our age-old assumption that trust is merely a soft, social virtue demonstrating how trust is a hard-edged, economic driver -  a learnable and measurable skill that makes organizations more energizing and profitable.
He told the audience of over 350 that nothing is as fast as the speed of trust and that the ability to establish, grow, extend, and restore trust with all stakeholders is the critical leadership competency of the new global economy. 

Nominees for the 2008 Better Business Ambassador of the year included: Randy Houston, First Tennessee and David Levy, Levy's.  Since 1998 BBB has annually presented an Ambassador Award to one individual who through their own character, leadership and integrity furthers the BBB mission.  This award is the highest recognition given to an individual by the BBB.

Lee A. Beaman, the 2007 Ambassador of the Year, presented the award to Harrington who was joined by her husband Tom.  After a standing ovation, Harrington thanked her team, acknowledged the caliber of the nominees for the award, and thanked Mr. Covey for his absolutely right-on message for our times.

Allison Paige Knight, Culleoka High School, Culleoka, TN, was named the 2008 Student of Integrity.  Knight, the daughter of John & Rene' Knight has a 3.6 GPA and plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University.  She will major in pre-Pharmacy with aspirations of being accepted into pharmacy school at Belmont University and pursuing a career in that field.  BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, scholarship sponsor, presented Knight with a $3,000 scholarship award.
